The Jaguar X300 is a luxury saloon produced by Jaguar from 1995. With a new replacement still years away, in the late 1990s the XJ40 was to be face lifted and "retrolutionized" to the X300 , reintroducing some of the style of the popular Series III. The X300 saw the XJ6 revert to a traditional fluted bonnet and 4 individual headlights. The X300 front and rear wings, bumpers and boot lid were also redesigned. In addition to the standard X300 , a 322 bhp supercharged version of the X300 was offered and badged as the XJR. This was the first supercharged car in the company's history and only the second car they ever made that used forced induction. 1997 was the final year of production for the X300 as the company switched exclusively to an all new V8 engine when the XJ8 was introduced at the end of 1997.
According to the UK Department for Transport, the X300 series Jaguars were among the safest cars on UK roads. |
